The Scottish Building Federation offers a comprehensive and unlimited Human Resource service to all Members at no additional cost. This consultancy offering encompasses a wide range of employment services including;

SBF is uniquely well placed to understand the nature of the employment relationship in the Scottish construction industry and is therefore relied upon by Members to provide employment support and guidance.

This support is tailored to meet Members’ needs and often includes face to face meetings at Members premises throughout Scotland. SBF will ensure that Members receive support in the arrangement and preparation of meetings, drafting correspondence, advising on procedures and visiting Members to conduct meetings, hearing and appeals.

CIJC Working Rule Agreement

The Scottish Building Federation is the only Scottish signatory body to the Construction Industry Joint Council’s Working Rule Agreement (WRA). The WRA is the largest industrial agreement within the construction industry covering approximately 400,000 workers. This collectively bargained Operative contract of employment sets standard working conditions across terms such as pay, overtime, holidays, sickness, pensions, travel and subsistence. SBF Members are free to utilise the Working Rule Agreement or to work with SBF to develop more bespoke contractual terms.
