SBF Gala Ball
The Scottish Building Federation hosts an anuual Gala Ball for Members and Guests in March of each year immediately following the AGM. In recent years, the Gala has taken place in the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow with approximately 250 guests attending this black tie event.
Pre and post dinner entertainment is provided in what is always a 'relaxed' evening and a charity raffle is drawn as part of the proceedings.
The SBF Gala Ball is growing in numbers each year and is quickly gaining a reputation as the key construction night of the year.
SBF Annual Conference
In 2015, the Scottish Building Federation hosted the inaugural Annual Conference at which Skills Development Scotland launched their Skills Investment Plan for the industry. The following year, SBF hosted a special Political hustings focusing on the Scottish construction industry ahead of the 2016 Scottish Parliamentary elections.
In 2017, the SBF Annual Conference turned its attention to Occupational Health and Safety with a variety of speakers presenting on issues such as employee wellbeing and mental health, the management of capability issues in the workplace and the idustry's approach to occupational health.
Attendance at the SBF Annual Conference is offered free-of-charge to all Members and the event is scheduled immediately prior to the AGM in March of each year.
Highland Construction and Property Dinner
The event is organised in partnership between the Scottish Building Federation, the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
The dinner normally takes place in Inverness on the last Friday in November and the current format was initiated in 2012. The evening includes a variety of entertainment, the now famous ‘Hit or Miss’ musical guessing game and the presentation of an Industry Excellence Award to a local winner.
SBF's warmest thanks and congratulations go to the local organising committee who volunteer each year to arrange an enjoyable occasion which brings together the whole construction industry whilst raising funds for worthwhile causes.
Amazingly, the annual dinner's silent auctions and charity raffles have now raised an unbelievable total of £50,000 for local charitable organisations in just five years.
The SBATC Apprentice of the Year Awards
The Scottish Building Apprenticeship and Training Council (SBATC) Apprentice of the Year Awards take place in the Scottish Parliament towards the end of each year.
An inspirational selection of Scotland's construction apprentices are recognised in front of their families, employers, trainers and politicians. Typically around a dozen of the very best apprentices are acknowledged in the presence of around 100 guests and industry representatives with over £3,500 distributed in prize money.
