Q3 2011 GDP Figures Released

Scotland’s Chief Statistician today announced the release of Gross Domestic Product for Scotland for 2011 Q3 (http://bit.ly/GDP2011Q3).
This quarterly publication measures growth, in real terms, of Gross Domestic Product at Basic Prices, also known as Gross Value Added, for Scotland.
The main findings are:
• GDP grew by 0.5 per cent during the third quarter of 2011. On an annual basis, comparing the latest four quarters to the previous four quarters (4Q on 4Q basis), it grew by 0.9 per cent.
• During the third quarter of 2011 there was growth of 0.9 per cent in the Services sector, contraction of 0.1 per cent in the Production sector, and a fall of 1.2 per cent in Construction output.
• On an annual basis (4Q on 4Q) output in the Services sector has grown by 0.3 per cent, the production sector has grown by 1.7 per cent.
