The Highland Association was formed as an amalgamation of a number of Associations - Caithness and Sutherland, Lochaber, Ross-shire and Inverness - in the mid 1990's.
The Highland Association of SBF represents in the region of 70 member companies throughout the Highlands.
Around 70% of its membership are small to medium sized contractors, complimented by major contractors and developers.
Through SBF, the Association makes representations to the Local Authority and Public Utilities on matters of concern within the industry in order that the interests of both parties are satisfactorily resolved.
Member companies in the Highland Association have expreienced,over the past number of years, a significant downturn in workload and all members recognise the current demands this brings.
The Association holds several General Meetings per year where guest speakers are also often invited to talk on topics of interest to members. There is also an Annual General Meeting of the Association, to which all members are invited.
In March, the Highland Association hosts the Builders Dinner which is popular social event in the North and is well supported by both members and suppliers.
Another social event is the Golf Tournament, which the Association holds in September each year.
